I’ve not been great at keeping the socials current with our activities. But just because we are stationary at home for a few months, doesn’t mean we haven’t been exploring. We’ve been trying to enjoy our home state as much as possible this winter. And anytime we can combine Louie with playing tourist I am extra happy! I captured in earlier posts our weekend in the Keys and my birthday weekend at Crystal River and our visit to Miami and the Everglades. Since then, we’ve kept up with squeezing in as much Florida sites as possible.

Larry and I essentially did the equivalent of building a pillow fort in our living room: we grabbed a camping spot for an overnight at the Sebastian Inlet State Park where we watched the sunset and spotted some great fauna. Larry also took Louie down for three days of work and boondocking in Fort Lauderdale.
I visited Vero Beach, Winter Park, and Crystal River with my friend, Jen. We enjoyed the McKee Botanical Garden, lunch at the Ocean Grill on Vero, and the scenic boat tour of Winter Park. We then headed to the west coast for more fun and snorkeling with manatees. We were stymied at every turn to try and kayak, but I did manage to bring Jen for her first visit to Ikea before dropping her off in Orlando for her return to the frozen north.

This winter I also got to play locally with family when my auntie came in from the west coast for a visit and my other aunt and cousin came up from Vero. We all enjoyed the old downtown of Melbourne, had a paint and sip afternoon, and we took a great scenic boat tour on the Sebastian River.

One of my favorite Florida explorations this year was a wonderful three days in Naples and Sanibel shelling and exploring with mom. Larry has explored Blue Springs and the Kennedy Space Center while I was up working (and freezing) in Massachusetts.

This past weekend we had one last mini burst of activity when my friend, Tracy visited from Seattle, and when our friend, Vicky, came up from Boca Raton to see us both. It was a weekend filled with laughter and happiness (and jigsaw puzzles).

Now we are days away from having Florida in our rear view mirror. This winter has been excellent down here, with lovely weather and terrific family and friends, but we are eager to start our Nomading again.
