We had back-to-back company the past two weekends, and it makes our hearts glad to be able to have our friends come join us in NYC. First the Townes came in for a quick visit. We squeezed in a lot of good living in the two nights they were here. We had drinks and dinner with Lori’s uncle and aunt; we caught some live comedy in the village; we went to Bryant Park’s Winter Market and then the Treasure’s Room at the NYPL. We laughed, and played, and caught up with each other, all while traipsing all over the city.
During the week, between company I went to the Lincoln Center to catch La Boheme at the Metropolitan Opera. It was a bucket List item to see a performance there, and I’m so glad the timing worked.
Then, this past weekend, the Turners came for three nights. And while the weather was not awesome, and we were all four in some stage of recovering from illnesses, we still managed to have a helluva good time! We ate Serbian food, Thai food, sushi, and of course pizza, bagels, and bialys. We had excellent cocktails and surprising sour beers. We walked the Brooklyn Bridge, and popped in on the holiday market at Union Square and in the Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central. We even got Amy to the Dumbo Market, one of her favorites.
Now we have just two weeks left. This coming week is Thanksgiving and all the celebration and excitement that comes with it here on the upper west side. The city is also getting decked out for the Christmas holidays, so of course we will go look at the window displays at all the stores.
